he word nougat [ˈnuːɡət] comes from Occitan (also called Old Provençal) word pan nogat [ˈpa nuˈɣat], that seemingly came from Latin panis nucatus, meaning ‘nut bread’ (nucatum means ‘nutted’ or ‘nutty’). Nuts, right!?
